s I mentioned earlier, it was my first visit to a live model session, hosted by local artist collective, Yosemite Western Artists, that returned me to a path of representational painting that I hadn't traveled much since high school.
 
I'm having a great time with this, working in oils, watercolors and pastels, mostly, although I plan to execute some in acrylics, in the future.
 
Most of the portraits were started in the live model sessions. The landscapes began in plein air (out of doors, on location) sessions. If not completed on the spot, I finish the paintings in my studio, from photos I've taken. Working directly from life or out in nature is the best of experiences.
