've abstracted from what's in front of me most of my adult life, utilizing multiple, rather then single point perspective and nonlocal color. These means allow an artist total freedom in designing their own reality. I hadn't intended to return to representational painting (I did a lot of this as a kid), but I recently began working from a live model one day each week, with a local artist collective, Yosemite Western Artists (YWA). This group works representationally exclusively. In order to avoid scaring them away, I returned to painting a representational image during our initial meeting. The experience showed me I still had a lot of exploration to do in this area and I've continued to create representational images of late, alongside my abstract work. You'll find links to pages with gallery collections of both approaches below. Enjoy!
