Artist's Comments

This is another painting from the week I was serving as the artist in residence for Yosemite Renaissance, up in Yosemite National Park. The cabin provided for me was in Wawona, where quite a few privately owned cabins are located in Yosemite. Close by is Pioneer Village: a collection of historical structures originally located elsewhere in the park, moved to this location to form a little hamlet, where visitors can come and experience multiple historical Yosemite structure at a single location. I and my artist friend who drove up to paint with me, chose this classic log cabin to paint on the last day of my stay. This being a mainstream site for visitors, we chatted with many that day. One woman, admiring my in progress painting, remarked, "You're the new Bob Ross!" Her enthusiasm indicated I should take this as a complement. I did.
