Artist's Comments
You never know when tragedy will strike. You're walking along the beach on a bright sunny day, when it comes calling and brings you to your knees. We lost our youngest son, Bo, a few months ago. Our lives have been changed forever. It goes on, but the rest of our time on earth will be viewed through a new filter. There's everything that occurred before his death, and now, everything that will occur after. The weeks immediately following his passing were very dark. My wife and I were at our lowest. Then bouquets began arriving from family and friends. It sounds cliché, but each arrival did lift our spirits. These beautiful messages of support were reminders that we were not alone and a life still existed outside our mourning.
I want to somehow acknowledge what the flowers meant, in such a dark time, and have decided to create a still life from each bouquet. This is the first.
