Artist's Comments
This began with a live model, provided by a local art group up here in the Sierras, Yosemite Sierra Artists. She was an excellent, experienced model, falling into well designed poses to work from. Unfortunately, the session took place in a nearby community college science room, filled with taxidermied animal heads. If I wanted to go in a surrealist direction and was free to move the heads around, as I pleased, they could have been useful. But that was tabu, in this case, so I had to come up with my own setting, thus striped wall paper and a potted palm. I later created an abstracted version of the same pose, Nude with Potted Plant, availible for viewing or purchase, here on my website, on the Abstract Nudes page.
