Artist's Comments
Don't have many opportunities to work from a nude model any more. There were periods, back in art school, when we had a nude model to work from every day. I understand why. When a model is unclothed every part of the body has to be proportionate to every other part. There are no garments to hide situations like when the head bone isn't attached properly to the neck bone, neck bone properly connected to the shoulder bone, shoulder bone connected to...etc., etc., etc. Well, this is an abstract version of the same pose I worked from on my representational version, Striped Wallpaper, available for comparison, here on my website, on the Representational Nudes page. Free from the proportional demands, with an abstract nude, the joy is in having the whole figure available to abstract and redesign. Great fun!
