Artist's Comments

One of our Yosemite Sierra Artists members, invited us to her property for this day's plein air outing. Although, all the foliage was pretty dry and had turned to seed, at this location, I was taken by the mirror like reflection of the landscape in this section of the Fresno River and the scenes harmonious, analogous, pastel presentation. Because of the rather mundane character of the foliage along the river, in this season, the painting required a surprising amount of detail be added, later in the studio, before the varieties of wild brush became recognizable as anything more than slashes of pigment.
