Artist's Comments
I live 20 minutes from the Southern entrance to Yosemite National Park, so I spend a respectable amount of time hiking and painting on location there. When painting the Yosemite monument El Capitan one time, I noticed a tiny detail that seemed to be moving on the face of this gigantic rock. Grabbing my binoculars from my backback and taking a closer, magnified look, I discovered a tiny human slowly and cautiously, zig-zagging his way up the rockface. I can't over estimate how tiny this individual was, compared to "the Captain," like an ant climbing a 6' high fence. Ever since, I've been intrigued with the sport.
