On November 12, 1988, a young Ethiopian, who'd immigrated to the United States to attend college, Mulugeta Seraw, was beaten to death, with a baseball bat, in Portland, OR, on the public street, by white supremacists, while passers-by looked on and did nothing to stop them. I never forgot this.
