Artist's Comments

One of the perks of membership in Yosemite Western Artists is traveling out to paint on location every 3rd Thursday of the month, with the plein air group. Artist Vickie Stewart, long-time leader of the plein air pack, discovers appropriate locations, pre-scouts them, maps out the itinerary, then leads us out into the open air on these excursions. Her choices never disappoint and this painting was created during one of those outings. It was another perfect day in Yosemite, a bit on the warm side and most of the group set up in a nice shady spot on the bank of the river. Capturing this point of view, required me to set up out in the sun, far away from the other artists. I do suffer for my art! :-)
